Cleveland Duo & James Umble with Argentinean Tango!
The Redwood Arts Council opens its 30th Anniversary Season of Pearls on September 12th with a combination of fine music with passionate Tango. The Cleveland Duo & James Umble, a unique group of talented musicians has performed together for 16 years in major chamber music venues, festival sites, universities and conservatories of music throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico. They have been heard over NPR and Canadian radio, and have embarked upon a multi-disc recording project for the Klavier Records label. They will be joined for two pieces by the Argentinean tango duo of Gustavo and Jesica Hornos, who have been described as a breathtakingly beautiful to watch, showing the very soul of the dance. Established as a dynamic concert ensemble since 1980, the Cleveland Duo combined with nationally-known saxophonist, James Umble, in 1993 to form an exciting threesome who are pioneers in the world of chamber music. They regularly appear in concert presenting recitals of newly commissioned pieces, original masterworks and fresh transcriptions for violin and piano, violin saxophone and piano, two violins, and saxophone with piano. Their unusual instrumentation affords them a unique programming style, featuring a repertoire ranging from the traditional and familiar classical to folk, ethnic, avant-garde and even jazz. Come enjoy a unique, full evening of music and passionate dance!
