Five Fridays: An Astral Trio
Astral Artists Luosha Fang, Ayane Kozasa and Gabriel Cabezas will join together to perform works for String Trio in the fourth concert of Five Fridays 2014-2015 season. Taking place in Saint Paul's stunning neo-gothic nave, the audience will have an opportunity to engage with the artists in an intimate candlelight setting.

Luosha Fang, Violin
A winner of Astral Artists' 2013 National Auditions, violinist Luosha Fang made her concert debut at the age of eight, in Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3. She recently premiered and recorded George Tsontakis' double violin concerto Unforgettable for the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and in 2010, premiered Chinese composer Shen Yiwen's violin concerto Mulan with the American Symphony Orchestra, under Leon Botstein. In March 2014, Ms. Fang appeared in Carnegie Hall, performing Penderecki's Sextet. In the summer of 2014, she is in residence at Marboro Music. Upcoming, Ms. Fang joins the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as a regular guest artist, and is featured as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra in "Autumn" from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Ms. Fang was awarded the Silver Medal at the prestigious 2010 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, as the first violinist of the Chimeng Quartet, for whom she is also a founding member. The quartet has also performed Takuma Itoh's Concerto for String Quartet with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, under David Alan Miller. She has appeared at the Library of Congress, Italy's Incontri in Terra di Siena Chamber Music Festival, the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society, Chamber Music Society of Reading, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Ravinia Festival's Steans Institute for Young Artists, and the Aspen, Kneisel Hall, Music from Angel Fire, and Bard festivals. Ms. Fang came to the United States from China in 2005 on a Distinguished Scholarship in Classical Violin, to further her studies at the Bard College Conservatory of Music. After graduating from Bard with degrees in both Violin Performance and Russian Studies, she attended the Curtis Institute of Music, where she received a Diploma in 2014. She has also studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

Ayane Kosaza, Viola
Winner of the prestigious Primrose International Viola Competition in 2011, Ayane Kozasa also captured the Competition's Mozart Award for the best chamber music performance, as well as its Askim Award for her performance of the Competition's commissioned work. As the First Prize winner, she gives concerts in both Europe and the United States. Ms. Kozasa was recently named the principal violist of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. A winner of Astral Artists' 2012 National Auditions, she has also been a prizewinner at the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. She has been featured in The Strad and Strings magazines, and her performances have been broadcast on "Live from the Mayne Stage" for WFMT in Chicago, and on Philadelphia's WHYY. Ms. Kozasa's interest in chamber music has led her to concert appearances across the U.S., including a national concert tour with pianist Ignat Solzhenitsyn, as a part of "Curtis on Tour." She was part of Ravinia's "Steans on Tour" in the 2012 and 2013 spring seasons, and recently graduated from Germany's Kronberg Academy. She has participated in numerous festivals, including the Music from Angel Fire's Young Artists Program, the Steans Music Institute at the Ravinia Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and Marlboro Music. Ms. Kozasa also performs as a member of the Aizuri Quartet. She recently graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she was the George and Marie Hecksher Annual Fellow. She also holds a Bachelor's degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Kirsten Docter.

Gabriel Cabezas, Cello
Hailed as "an intense player who connects to the music naturally, without artifice, and [who] brings a singing line to the cello" (The Oregonian), cellist Gabriel Cabezas has been featured as soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony of Costa Rica, Pittsburgh Symphony, New World Symphony, and the Nashville Symphony, among others. A winner of Astral Artists' 2014 National Auditions, Mr. Cabezas recently performed Saint-Saëns' Concerto No. 1 for his debuts with both the Houston Symphony and Chicago's Grant Park Music Festival. Upcoming are appearances at Marlboro Music, as well as France's Daniou Festival (as part of clarinet/cello/guitar trio, Marcel). Mr. Cabezas' passion for chamber music has taken him to such festivals as Music@Menlo, Music from Angel Fire, the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and Bargemusic, as well as Brooklyn's Roulette and Chicago's "Symphony Center Presents" series. His television appearances include performances with Yo-Yo Ma on The Tavis Smiley Show and Good Morning America, and with Béla Fleck on PBS's From The TopCarnegie Hall. Mr. Cabezas is the winner of the 2012 Sphinx Competition. Highlights of the 20132014 season included his subscription debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra, a return to Chicago's International Beethoven Festival, and the Sphinx Virtuosi's annual national tour. He also recently appeared with the Detroit Symphony, was featured on the "Musicians from Marlboro" tour, and appeared at the International Beethoven Festival and ChamberFest Cleveland. Mr. Cabezas is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music.
