Photography Basics 2
Composing and Editing Bootcamp So you take a lot of pictures but they are either still on your memory card or one hot mess of disorganization on your computer, right? You aren't a bad photographer but the whole editing thing is something you haven't had time for. You want to learn how to take less boring shots. You are sick of having your awesome images on a computer and not where you can show them off. Most images you see online seem overprocessed and you want to create honest, beautiful images. Sound like you? Ok, let's do this.
Composing and editing are two of the pillars of making great images (exposing the image is the third pillar. There's a class for that, too. In this class, we'll fill your creative toolbox with composition techniques for better storytelling. Then we'll hit the road on a photo walk to practice your new skills. We'll use Adobe Lightroom to edit to what Jesse calls "zero:" or making the shot the best it can be without overprocessing. And never fear: we'll also talk digital photo organization, printing, and mounting options to display your beautiful work. What you need:
Laptop computer with Adobe Lightroom, installed. (A free trial version is available. Individual and student subscriptions run $10 per month for Lightroom and Photoshop through Adobe Creative Cloud) Laptop power cord DSLR camera with fully charged batteries and freshly formatted memory card Working knowledge of your camera is assumed but manual shooting is not required. No point-and-shoot cameras, please A sack lunch Please note, this class includes walking up to one mile and participants may encounter hills and weather. Please come prepared with walking shoes, water bottle and rain gear, if needed
About the Instructor Jesse Michener is an award-winning commercial and portrait photographer based in Tacoma, WA. Her client list includes Microsoft, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Northwest Trek, The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation and many others.
