Tuesday, September 15, 2009 Networking and Portraits beginning at 5:30 PM Dinner and Program 6:00 PM
Have you heard about LinkedIn and wondered if its just another social networking site? What could LinkedIn do for you or your business? Our speaker will tell us why a professional networking site, such as LinkedIn, is the way people are doing business to market their brand in 2009. At the end of the program, attendees will understand: the importance of having a complete profile; how to create a complete profile; being an open networker versus a closed networker; and how to join groups. Overall, attendees will know how to use LinkedIn to be seen as an expert and increase their ranking by the search engines. Jean Pickering is the President of The Tektite Group, LLC. The Tektite Group is an IT consulting company that works with small businesses, startups, and non-profits. They specialize in helping clients learn how to use internet and social media tools to manage their personal and/or company brand on the internet. This is accomplished by teaching them how to use websites, social media, e-mail marketing, and Search Engine Optimization. Jean Pickering has been an IT consultant for over 20 years. Of late, Jean has become a specialist in how to use social media to create a personal and/or company brand on the internet. Visit her LinkedIn profile at www.LinkedIn.com/in/JeanPickering.
Your LinkedIn photo is extremely important because it is displayed on your profile and on every message you send. Photos make a lasting impression. They communicate who you are and extend your branding. They help networking contacts, recruiters, and potential employers remember you. When a potential employer looks at your profile photo, they will be thinking, "Could this person do the job? Is it a good match?" Your photo should show you at your best, doing or able to do the job that you want. Having no photo or a poor photo can make the difference between an interview and a pass-over, especially when the job market is tight and there are many candidates and few openings. John Hill is the founder and principal photographer of Tigerhill Studio. He has over 30 years experience in aerial, architectural, and portrait photography. Visit his website at www.TigerhillStudio.com. The cost for the evening includes one photo selected from several poses and backgrounds. Your selection will be processed and available for download from Johns website, which you can upload to LinkedIn. Be sure to dress professionally for your portrait!
