Emel Mathlouthi
Emel Mathlouthi's voice spells revolution and freedom. This young singer/songwriter's "Kelmti Horra" ("My Word is Free") became an anthem of the Arab Spring. Growing up in the suburbs of Tunis and performing from the age of 8, she moved to France at the age of 25 and now performs globally with her band. Her powerhouse presence and inventive melding of rock, Asian and trip-hop come through as she sings in Arabic, French and English.
