Shakespeare's 450th: Scenes, Sonnets, Music and Dance with Members of Piffaro and Guests
On Saturday, October 4, members of Piffaro, the Renaissance band that provided authentic period music for the Globe Theater's recent productions on Broadway, will kick off the festivities with a presentation of music as Shakespeare would have enjoyed it. Jim Christy, known for staging skilled renditions of the Bard's works, will direct leading actors in sonnets and scenes. And just as many of Shakespeare's plays ended with a "masque," so the celebration concludes with dances taught by a Renaissance dancing master. Guests are invited to bring their dancing shoes or just sit back and enjoy.
