About Amy Black Boston-based singer/songwriter, Amy Black has storytelling and southern tradition in her blood. With Alabama and Missouri roots, Black started her career in the suburbs of Boston just a few years ago and has grown to become a fixture in the Boston music scene and a well-respected national act, known for her soulful songwriting and singing. The Boston Globe describes her music as, "an effortless blend of roots, country, and blues with a touch of R&B." American Songwriter Magazine calls her "a powerful, authentic, talented and above all soulful new entry in the rootsy singer/songwriter ranks." And Relix Magazine say about her new sophomore solo album, "This Is Home," "Black's shop-worn vocals, intricate arrangements and soulful instrumentation make her an artist well worth watching." About Charlie Faye On January 1st, 2010, Charlie Faye pulled out of her hometown of Austin, Texas, to embark on a modern bohemian adventure. In ten months, Charlie made her home in ten different towns; Tucson, AZ, Los Angeles, CA, Portland, OR, Boulder, CO, Shreveport, LA, Burlington, VT, Milwaukee, WI, Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC, and New York, NY. Instead of touring the traditional way, going from town to town, night after night, Charlie decided to settle in and put down roots in these ten different cities, each for a full month. In every city, she put together a band of local musicians, played shows, and wrote and recorded a new song. The album recorded on this journey, Travels With Charlie, gained critical acclaim and reached #7 on the Americana Radio Chart.
Charlie's newest release, You Were Fine, You Weren't Even Lonely, was recorded in L.A. with Will Sexton, Jay Bellerose, and Jen Condos. www.charliefaye.com
About Betty Soo The Austin American-Statesman says BettySoo has "exceptionally well-arranged songs, as easily equal in precision to, say, Patty Griffin or Alison Kraussa confidence that speaks volumes," and KUT praises her "beautiful, heart-wrenching songs that are also edgy and unwavering." Betty Soo's latest album produced together with Brian Standefer at his studio in Buda, Texas, When We're Gone is an intimate look into private spaces in life. Wall-hung sinks ("The Things She Left Town With"), cluttered floorboards ("Josephine"), packed suitcases at the door ("Hold Tight"), and crumpled clothing at a young girl's feet ("Summertime") these are the furniture for the setting, but center stage is BettySoo's voice, her melodies, and the unmistakable texture of Brian's cello. BettySoo's previous album, Heat Sin Water Skin, received a great deal of radio airplay, including spins at influential Non-Comm/Triple A stations WFUV, KUT, WXPN, KGSR, KDRP and SiriusXM's The Loft. When We're Gone builds on this previous success, brimming with what feels like new-found confidence and strength.
