PART OF HANDMADE WORLDS: A FESTIVAL OF PUPPET THEATRE (For more information about all the festival activities, go to www.handmadeworlds.org)
My Life as a Fairytale was created in celebration of the Danish author, poet, storyteller and children's book writer, Hans Christian Andersen, and his impact on the art form of psaligraphy (papercutting).
Michael Sommers, director of the Minneapolis-based Open Eye Figure Theatre, theater brings HC Andersen and the story of the Ugly Duckling to life.
Originally produced for the American Swedish Institute's Turnblad Mansion, festival goers will get to see this show performed in the historical home for which it was designed. My Life as A Fairytale will be the final performance of the festival at the American Swedish Institute on Sunday morning. The 30-minute site-specific show includes table top puppetry, object transformation and storytelling designed to delight all ages.
HANDMADE WORLDS: A Festival of Puppet Theatre is produced by Open Eye Figure Theatre in collaboration with the Great Plains Region of The Puppeteers of America and In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre.
