Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio w/ Ike Stubblefield and Marcus Williams
BOBBY LEE RODGERS:
Picking up the double bass at age seven, Rodgers grasped that instrument with such ease that it was no surprise that he quickly moved on to the drums and then to guitar. In high school, a fortuitous relationship with the band teacher opened Rodgers eyes to the language of Jazz. Within five years of his H.S. graduation, he had landed a coveted teaching position at the Berklee College of Music where he taught in the Jazz Studies program while moonlighting all along the New England coast, one foot in Jazz, one foot in the world which would eventually lead him home, and to Atlantas so-called Jam Band world. That was a decade ago. Sharing the stage with(BLAH BLAH BLAH), Rodgers has managed to maintain his deep roots in Jazz while creating a brand of rock which is intelligent, innovative and absolutely addictive.
IKE STUBBLEFIELD:
After reaching for the piano as a three-year-old and soon playing his sisters lessons by ear, Ike Stubblefield began a musical journey that has carried him across the globe and across the genres. He started his professional career in 1968 as a Motown session player, playing keyboard for The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. He has performed with such greats as George Benson, David Sanborn, B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Billy Ocean, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. His versatility allows him to add his own flair to jazz, blues, rock, and funk; hes a master of the B3 organ and isnt afraid to show it. He has worked as a composer, songwriter and producer with artists like Quincy Jones, Phil Spector, Whitney Houston, Traffics Jim Capaldi, and others.
MARCUS WILLAMS:
Drummer extraordinaire, Williams has been a drummer in Tyler Perrys productions over the years, and is also the founder of Modern Drummer Magazine. He has been a prolific presence in soundtracks for films and television as well as in commercials for TV and radio. His technique is as awe-inspiring as is the list of artists with whom he has worked over the years. Some of these include: George Howard, Issac Hayes, The S O S Band, Ronnie Laws, Anthony Lockett(Cameo), Eddie Kendricks,(Temptations), Gloria Gainer, Candi Staton, The Pointer Sisters, and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
