"The Mysterious Metamorphosis of Mr. Krank" focuses on a central character, Mr. Krank, as he goes on a bizarre journey and is subject to many fantastic transformations. This project was selected as a recipient of a 2014 Seed Project Grant from The Jim Henson Foundation.

Bios: Madison J. Cripps has been a professional puppeteer since 2006 and founded Cripps Puppets in 2010 where he performs with his one of a kind hand carved wooden marionettes. In 2008, Madison was awarded a grant from the Mass. Cultural Council for the Cripps Walking Theatre Project. Madison has studied at the Sandglass Theater Institute Level 1 & 2 with Eric Bass and Ines Zeller Bass (2007, 2008) and at The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Puppetry Conference with marionette masters Jim Rose and Phillip Huber (2012, 2013). Notable performances include Puppeteers of America South East Regional Festival (2010), Lake Eden Arts Festival (2010-2012), Asheville Fringe Festival (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014), Puppeteers of America National Puppet Slam and Busking Workshop (2011), The New Orleans Fringe Festival (2011, 2012) Puppetfest Midwest (2012) and Dragon Con (2011, 2012) In 2004, Madison received a BA with an emphasis in Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Cultural Studies from The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA.
Toybox Theatre has existing since 1998 and is the creation of Keith Shubert. In 2001, Shubert studied the art of puppetry at The School Of The Art Institute Chicago under Blair Thomas. He has also taken master classes with Stephan Carter of The Carter Family Marionettes and with master marionette artist Phillip Huber. His work has been presented at Puppetfest Midwest (2002, 2003, 2012), Puppeteers of America Regional Festival (2006), Puppeteers of America National Puppetry Festival (2007, 2011, 2013), The Orlando Puppetry Festival (2011), The New Orleans Fringe Festival (2011, 2012), The New Orleans Giant Puppetry Festival (2013), The Asheville Fringe Festival (2009-2014), and at The Lake Eden Arts Festival (2010-2012). Shubert holds a Bachelor's of Arts and Science in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University.
Together, Toybox and Cripps are the hosts and founders of the Wham Bam Puppet Slam (Asheville, NC) and are considered a powerful force in the American puppet slam movement both teaching and performing contemporary adult short form puppet theater around the nation. They have also produced several successful feature length performances including Billy The Liar, which recently won awards for Best Performance and Fan Favorite (afternoon show) at the 2013 National Puppetry Festival, Puppet {r} Evolution at Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA.
HANDMADE WORLDS: A Festival of Puppet Theatre is produced by Open Eye Figure Theatre in collaboration with the Great Plains Region of The Puppeteers of America and In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre.
