Groucho, Chico and Harpo careen through the world of opera in this raucous film, their first for MGM and the last of their truly great comedies. It's got a plot about star-crossed lovers, transatlantic voyages, and show biz deal-making, but who cares? Watch it for Groucho's one-liners and fabulous slapstick like the legendary stateroom scene. Originally performed as a vaudeville show before it was filmed, A Night at the Opera is the Marx Brothers at the top of their form, and you've got see it on the big screen. "One can be wowed by the contemporary appeal on TV, but one really has to be in a revival house [like Cinema Arts Centre!] to experience the infectious, side-splitting effect of the brothers Marx on old fans and first-timers."
