Virginia Woolf's ORLANDO adapted by Sarah Ruhl
The Center for Applied Theatre and Active Culture (CATAC)  is pleased to present the premiere of New World Performance Laboratory's production of "Virginia Woolf's ORLANDO adapted by Sarah Ruhl" on August 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 at 8:00 pm and August 10 at 2pm in the Balch Street Theatre, 220 South Balch Street, Akron OH, 44302. Directed by NWPL Co-Artistic Director James Slowiak, costume design by Inda Blatch-Geib, and lighting design by Chris Hariasz, this playful, passionate, and poetic rendering of Virginia Woolf's gender-bending novel is a fantastic theatrical excursion displaying the physical and vocal versatility of NWPL's actors in time for the Cleveland-Akron Gay Games 2014. Admission is $15 (2 for 1 on Thursday, August 14 and $10 for students or with a Gay Games ID). Reservations can be made by calling 330-867-3299 or online at orlando.brownpapertickets.com

NWPL has been presenting world-class ensemble theatre in the Akron area for more than twenty years.  This latest work features NWPL long-time company members Jairo Cuesta and Debora Totti and Studio 2 members Rosilyn Jentner and Jeremiah Clapp, with Akron native India Burton as Orlando, an immortal being who spans centuries in his/her search for love. The actors will be accompanied by a music and sound score designed and executed live by Robert Keith.
