THE NORMAL HEART
Come to the Cinema Arts Centre for a local theater company production of the Tony Award winning play THE NORMAL HEART
The story of a city in denial, The Normal Heart unfolds like a real life political thriller as a tightly knit group of friends refuses to let doctors, politicians, and the press bury the truth of an unspoken health epidemic behind a wall of silence. Three decades after it was written and first debuted Off-Broadway at the Joseph Papp Public Theater, Larry Kramer's semi-autobiographical, outrageous, unflinching, and totally unforgettable look at the sexual politics of New York during the AIDS crisis of the early 1980's remains one of the theater's most powerful evenings and is still as relevant as ever. The Normal Heart won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play and was recently made into a TV film for HBO, starring Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts. Running Time: 150 min, plus intermission | Director: Christopher Rosselli | Cast: Franklyn Butler (Ned Weeks), Robert Burney (Felix Turner), Jessie Maldonado (Dr. Emma Brookner), Mike McKasty (Bruce Niles), James Carey (Ben Weeks), Michael H. "Toddy" Carlin (Mickey Marcus), Kevin Hansen (Tommy Boatwright & David), Guy DeMatties (Hiram Keebler), Scott Eichholz (Examining Doctor), Michael John Ruggiere (Craig Donner) and Shaun Keappock (Grady) StageLight Entertainment, Inc. is an up and coming theater company, based in Lindenhurst at BACCA Arts Center that is dedicated to producing revivals of quality, intelligent, edgier stage works, which push the envelope and which audiences would not likely have the opportunity to see being done anywhere else on Long Island.
