This annual comedy festival is presented by the members of the Southeastern Comedy Arts Alliance with the goal of promoting improv comedy.
The festival features workshops and performances by stand up comics and improv comedy troupes from around the Southeastern United States.
The festival features a Friday night show as well as two shows on Saturday night.
You can also choose from three workshops. Each workshop will be presented in the morning (10-12) and again in the afternoon (1-3). Each workshop is $10, or if you'd like to attend two workshops, it's $15.
Workshops include:
"Marketing 101", a workshop about all the ins and outs of developing a strong marketing strategy and getting attention for your hard work will be presented by Deenie Castleberry. Deenie is the Founder of the Misfit Monkeys Improv Troupe in Jackson, MS.
"Story Time", a workshop that will help you improve your storytelling abilities by teaching an integrated method of verbal and physical interaction. The class will be taught by Casey Dillard of West Of Shake Rag and Stranger, Are You Smiling? in Tupelo, Mississippi.
"Exploding Your Scene!", is workshop taught by Houston Longino, Artistic Director of Longshot Theatre Company in Gulfport, MS, which focuses on boiling down an improv scene to four very basic elements (exploring the environment, expanding the relationship, heightening the emotions, and raising the stakes) and then amplifying those elements to get the absolute most out of all of your scenes through guided scenework with specific opportunities to develop these areas.
