Songwriter Circle Anniversary Special with special guests Steve Meckfessel, Dan Weber and Avery Hill
Cal Scott and Richard Moore are celebrating the third anniversary of their bi-monthly Songwriter Circle, Sunday, August 3, with a special show and picnic in a backyard concert venue in the Garden Home neighborhood of Southwest Portland. Special guests will include Steve Meckfessel, http://stevemeckfessel.com coming up from his home in the San Francisco Bay area for this show, and Dan Weber http://www.danwebermusic.com and Avery Hill http://www.averyhilltunes.com/, Portland favorites, just back from a long tour of the South and Midwest, from Arkansas to Wisconsin.
"Steve's music is clean, honest, and comes from a place of real emotional depth. Whether it is celebratory, lamenting, or simply telling a good story, it reaches straight for my heart." --Beth Wood, Singer/Songwriter, winner of the 2006 Sisters Folk Festival Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest
"I love Dan's songs and he tells really good stories." - Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Legendary Folk Troubadour, April 2012
"(Avery Hill) has a memorable, lilting voice and is already penning songs that could someday be classics. She is an extraordinary young talent." - Tom May, host of River City Folk
The show will open with Dan and Avery at 4:30, followed by a break for your picnic brought from home(bring your own bottle if you like, too) at 5:30, and the main event at 6. Your appetite for food, wine and song should be sated by 8pm, and you'll be on your way home before dark. If your kids are listeners, bring them along. Twelve and under free, but please let us know if you are bringing kids so we can have an accurate head count. Sand chairs and blankets are welcome. Exact address and information about a backup rain venue will come to you when you buy your tickets from brownpapertickets.com.
