Dearly Departures

In this 60-minute contemporary dance work by Blake Beckham, we encounter a dark and vacuous space where the drone of a dial tone becomes an ominous alarm. Dancers wander, recoil, examine, whisper and watch. When they reach for one another, they are needy or depleted, urgent, indifferent, or persistent. They quiver with the disquieting tension of things impending.

Through evocative movement, original sound, and exquisite design, Dearly Departures addresses themes of distance and connectivity, using imagery around travel and communication to examine leaving, loss and the mutable nature of staying in touch.

All performances take place at DramaTech Theater on the campus of Georgia Tech
The entrance to DramaTech is located on the northeast corner of the Ferst Center. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early, as late seating is strictly prohibited. You must pay to park in Georgia Tech's visitor lots ($3 for 1 -2 hours). Use parking lots marked Area 2 and Area 3.
