Sundae Queerberet
Sundae Queerberet is Just what it sounds like! A delicious Sunday treat featuring some of New York City's finest queer performers. Hosted by Nicolette Dixon, and featuring the wonderful, the amazing, the thrilling: Damien Luxe is a Brooklyn-based artist and organizer, a repatriated expat, a DIY tech geek, and a working-class gone hustling-class queer femme fatale who's been on stage for over 15 years and organizes using art for radical social change.
Sabina Ibarrola is a Brooklyn-based performance artist, activist, and troublemaker. This mixed-race bruja finds the meat and magia of her work in the urban ecosystems of Brooklyn. Inspired by a brilliant galaxy of queer femme artists and instigators, she explores themes of heartbreak, ancestry, chosen family, femininity, and faith. She performs "Ex and The City" in which she melts down and melts hearts in a pop culture performative exploration of breaking up and breaking through with the help of karaoke and Carrie Bradshaw.
Ariel "Speedwagon" Federow is an interdisciplinary performing artist whose work straddles the line between traditional theater and vaudeville-style entertainment: fast-talking, fast-thinking, and not without an occasional pie in the face. Ariel presents the first three episodes of Lavender Valley, the world's premiere powerpoint-based lesbian soap opera. Will Katy stay with Katie or go back to Kate? Will Kathryn with a y and the other Kat ever get together? And why is Kathy so evil?! Tune in for love, texting, and drama! Special guest stars include Ellen, Judith Butler, Ryan Gosling, and some unicorns.
Tim Manley is the author and illustrator of Alice in Tumblr-land: And Other Fairy Tales for a New Generation, out now from Penguin. His stories have been featured on the Moth Radio Hour and Podcast. Vada James, makes funny sexy. She co-produces Delicatease, a month burlesque show, with Corvette Le Face the last Friday of every month at Pioneers Bar. Vada is also a member of Razzmatazz Review, New York City's newest burlesque troupe. Burlesque performer Vada James and storyteller Tim Manley pair their vulnerable acts to tell a story of love and tenderness.
