Lizzy Ross, Major & the Monbacks at Shining Star Farm
Join us at Shining Star Farm, located at 3838 Barrows Mill Road, for the Rives Theatre's annual outdoor concert! This year, the show will be co-billed by Lizzy Ross and the soul/R&B sound of Norfolk's Major And The Monbacks.
The Monbacks are fresh out of college, exploding into the East Coast music scene with two solid years of touring in their back pocket, wielding an original blend of retro R&B, 60's twang and new school garage-pop jams. The Monbacks have reached "monback mania" status in their hometown of Norfolk, self-releasing a 5 song EP and 2 singles while playing shows, festivals, and colleges across the East Coast and packing out every major venue in Norfolk, including 3 headline shows at the 1500-capacity venue The NorVA, ranked Rolling Stone's number one venue in the country.
Lizzy Ross Band delivers exuberant Soul/Americana. Ross's voice delivers a charming trill one moment, only to erupt in rough, bluesy emotion the next. It's a powerful instrument that's earned her comparisons to artists like Grace Potter and Edie Brickell, among others.
