Jazz at The Green Room: Jeff Platz Trio featuring Daniel Carter & Luther Gray

Guitarist Jeff Platz, well known to audiences in Boston, New York and Germany for what one reviewer recently called his "classic jazz guitar tone and an expansive palette of sounds and colors," has assembled a very special trio for his September 20th Jazz at The Green Room appearance.

Active since the early 1970s, reeds, flute & trumpet player Daniel Carter has played not just with such seminal contemporary free jazz figures as William Parker, Hamid Drake and Matthew Shipp but also with such diverse performers as Yo La Tengo, Thurston Moore, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Vernon Reid and DJ Logic, among many others. Carter and Platz have worked together extensively, including on the recent release 'Past and Present Futures.'

If there are drums being played at a jazz or improvised music show in the Boston area, there's a good chance it's Luther Gray on the chair. Luther currently plays in bands lead by folks like Jerry Bergonzi, Jim Hobbs, Daniel Rosenthal and too many others to name. He recently released a new record with his ensemble Lawnmower and a trio record called 'Horns and Drums' with Jim Hobbs and Allan Chase. Luther played an electrifying JATGR show back in May with Hobbs and Timo Shanko.
