The Foreign Resort, Daniel Land & You Walk Through Walls
And another wonderful night of music awaits you!
Headlining we are delighted to welcome The Foreign Resort.
Sonically expressive, dark and moody, catchy and up-beat are words to describe this Danish group that mixes 80s new-wave with explosive post-punk.
Hailing from Copenhagen, The Foreign Resort has intricately balanced an international sound with songs that instill contradictory feelings of melancholy and bliss. The band takes the audience on a journey through passages of textured layers with haunting and dreamy vocals, to echoes and pulsations of overdriven guitars, powerful drumming, driving bass, and intense thematic melodic lines. The end result is an aural rollercoaster of emotional intensity.
Since 2010, the band has been rigorous in booking over 200 shows most of them in the US as well as showcases at Spot Festival, SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, CMJ Music Marathon and Wave Gotik Treffen. This enabled them to develop a wider fan base, as well as becoming part of the burgeoning noise pop scene evident through rotation, interviews, and live performances at radio stations throughout the US as well as in Europe.
Other international bands have also welcomed them on their tours such as The Raveonettes, A Place to Bury Strangers and Swervedriver.
Magazines like Consequence of Sound as well as Danish GAFFA and Soundvenue have praised The Foreign Resort. The Big Takeover wrote "This band is epic!" about their 2011 EP and UK's Louder Than War stated about their latest release Scattered & Buried: "It's an amazing album, which puts The Foreign Resort firmly on the radar, hailing them as the most exciting band to come out of Denmark since The Raveonettes".
The Foreign Resort's latest album "New Frontiers", produced by John Fryer (Nine Inch Nails, Cocteau Twins, PJ Harvey), was released February 24, 2014 on BLVD Records. The singles "Dead End Roads" and "Alone" are currently in rotation at several radio stations across the United States and Europe and were featured in Under The Radar Magazine, Seismic Sound and High Voltage Magazine.
Before them we have the beautiful dream pop of Daniel Land. a long time favourite of ours! Whether with his own band, Daniel Land & The Modern Painters, Riverrun or as part of The Engineers, Daniel has always managed to produce wonderful songs, inspired by his hero Robin Guthrie, the Cocteau Twins legend!
YOU WALK THROUGH WALLS formed out of the ashes of South Coast (UK) shoegazing legends AIR FORMATION by Matt Bartram and James Harrison, with Harry Irving joining on bass. Expect shimmering melodic walls of guitar with buried vocals backed up by a driving rhythm section. With their self titled debut album just released, expect noisy shoegazing joy! For fans of Air Formation, Ride, A Place To Bury Strangers, Swervedriver, Ride, Toy, Slowdive.
With a guest DJ set as well, this will be another night of glorious music that you won't want to miss!
