Warp Showcase 2 Night Package feat. Nightmares On Wax, Plaid, Aligning Minds, and Papercraft
TWENTYSEVEN FOLDS visual residency presents: THE VISIONARIUM. The perfect combination of SIGHT + SOUND... a July filled w/ projection mapping, visual performances, and cutting edge musical talent!
NIGHTMARES ON WAX - http://www.nightmaresonwax.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=W8MLqYNGKdI
Nightmares on Wax is an institution, albeit a delightfully different one. The man behind the moniker, George Evelyn, just keeps reinventing not in a willful Bowie way, but flowing along, going at whatever speed he fancies to wherever his ideas carry him.
Perhaps best known in Europe for the ground-breaking '90s albums 'Smokers Delight' and 'Carboot Soul', new album "N.O.W. IS THE TIME" (marking 25 years!) will surprise many as bubbly, warm and as lively a thing as will be heard all year... Nightmares on Wax are back! Then again, like the underground itself, they never really went away.
PLAID - http://plaid.co.uk/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Tpz47Ca_qDo Plaid (pronounced \ˈplad\) are the London electronic music duo Andy Turner & Ed Handley. They are two of the founding members of The Black Dog, releasing their first EP in 1989 and signing to Warp Records in 1991. They have used many other pseudonyms including; Atypic, Repeats and Balil, but have focusing on Plaid since 1995. Through these various guises they have released 15 albums, from 1991s 'Mbuki Mvuki', to 2011s 'Scintilli'. They have collaborated often, with; Bob Jaroc, Mara Carlyle, Nicolette, Felix's Machines, Björk, Rahayu Supanggah, Random Dance, SARC, The London Sinfonietta and others.
Their first film score was for Studio4c's, 'Tekkonkinkreet', which won the 2008 Japanese academy prize for best animated feature. They also worked with the same director, Michael Arias, on his second live action feature 'Heaven's Door'.
ALIGNING MINDS - http://aligningminds.com/
The Aligning Minds sound is melodic and bass heavy. Ethereal and dubby, uplifting and haunting, their music winds its way through the imaginative souls of its listeners, offering a deep exploration of subsonic mood and emotional atmosphere... emotionally charged future music!
Aligning Minds has collaborated with / performed alongside artists as varied as Emancipator, Invisible Allies, Alvin Risk, Beats Antique, Alex Grey, Robert Manos, Shpongle, Daedelus, Mochipet, Richie Hawtin, Eskmo, Nosaj Thing, Bluetech, Kilowatts, OTT, Green Velvet and many, MANY more.
