DIF Workshop - BALLS-OUT SPECIFICITY, Susan Messing (Ringwald)
Where are we? Why am I here? What am I thinking? Get the basics out in a way that isn't basic at allget specific and take your improvisation to the next level. Get some character, so you don't stand there as yourself and argue until we're all bored to tears. Lots of specificity to pull out the comedy instead of hoping you'll be funny and then wanting to kill yourself. Your work will become more effortless, whether in long or short form.
Susan Messing has been an improviser and comedian for over twenty four years. A graduate of the Theatre School at Northwestern University, Susan is an alumna of the iO, Second City Mainstage, and a founding member of Chicago's infamous Annoyance Theatre. Susan continues to teach and perform improvisational comedy at iO, The Annoyance Theatre, and Second City. She is also an adjunct instructor for DePaul University, where he teaches improv. Recipient of the CIF 2010 "Improviser Of The Year," Chicago Reader named her "Best Improviser" and she has been dubbed the "Funniest Woman In Chicago" by Chicago Magazine.
