Event
DIF - Saturday 10 PM (The Rustbelt)
¡ZARZAMORA! (Austin),
¡ZARZAMORA! specializes in episodic long form with an emphasis on some actual, but mostly fictionalized history. We will take from the audience a suggestion of a common modern device (i.e. a clock radio) and an event in ancient history (i.e. the fall of Troy) and then, in episodic fashion connected with brief narration, display to the audience how the event led directly and inevitably to the invention of the device.
Human Amusements (Ferndale)
Human Amusements' unique blend of character-driven long form, instructional-video riffing, and parade of weird wigs has been entertaining Metro Detroit audiences weekly for the last year, winning Go Comedy's "Best Late Night" award for 2013. This past spring they also had a successful run of their critically acclaimed sketch show "Better Living Through Human Amusements". You might meet a friendly policeman, cable access psychics, "health" "professionals," or anything else they come up with. Expect to come away from each show a little wiser, and pleasantly confused.
Smith & I (Chicago)
Smith&I is a Chicago-based troupe, emulating the comedy duos of old. Their focus is on patient, grounded scene work. They believe that from this format comes honesty, so that even the wildest characters they take on retain authenticity and emotion. The presentation of Smith & I shows is very simple and professional, utilizing an audience suggestion to spark the scene work.
