DIF - Thursday 10 PM (Go Comedy)
LowRes.jpg (Ferndale)
LowRes.jpg performs a LaRonde, a series of two person scenes. LowRes.jpg is made up of Detroit area improvisers.
God Takes a Holiday (Minneapolis)
God Takes a Holiday is a new MN based improv group that does "if these walls could talk" scenarios. We met through Drop In Classes and Space Jams at Huge Theater. We were drawn to each other and the rest is history. As noted above, we like to explore what can happen in a given location. We might find ourselves in an underground poker tournament in the public library, or we might end up running next to Lady Gaga at a gym, or find a malt shop run by human sized monkeys... You just never know what surprises you may find.
Fake Cops (Toronto)
Fake Cops asks for a suggestion from the audience (which usually results in a short monologue to inspire the scenes), and we immediately hit the ground running with a 'base' scene that sets up the themes for the show. We utilize quick tag outs, and are known for our ability to incorporate unexpected and unusual call-backs. Although we attempt to find balance between different scenes (e.g., two-handers vs. group scenes, fast-paced vs. slow scene, etc...), we have all agreed, above everything, to follow the fun! Our coach is Evany Rosen who is a founding member of the Canadian Comedy Award winning sketch troupe PICNICFACE - with whom she created the hit Comedy Network show "Picnicface" under the tutelage of Kids in the Hall alum Mark McKinney. We also bring in guest coaches including Ken Hall of the internationall acclaimed improv duo "Two Man No Show."
Daaang Judy Dench (Chicago)
DAAANG Judi Dench is a Chicago based, long form, improv team. Sets typically begin with individual mock audition monologues made up on the spot with the help of a suggestion then we break into a montage of scenes inspired by those monologues. We are breaking free from the Ophelias and Laura Wingfields as we expertly parody the typical female monologue which includes (but not limited to) vagina/flower imagery, our boy's comin' home from war, and "Gimme your cheapest ticket to anywhere" professions of undying love. Our improv is always relationship driven, very physical, pretty weird, and tends to push the dramatic boundaries. The most important thing to us is that the people who come to our shows have as much fun as we do!
