THE WHO: The Early Years
Join Rock Legends host Bill Shelley for big screen celebration of THE WHO
The Who began during London's era of Mods and Rockers. Their explosive stage act earned them a record deal in 1965, but they were considered too controversial and violent to be broadcast on the BBC, so they were banned from both TV and radio. Despite this, The Who attracted so much press that the BBC had to withdraw 2THE WHOThe Whostagetheir objections and allow the group to appear under careful monitoring. Meanwhile, the band's first American appearances in 1967 included being on The Smothers Brothers and being in the performances and documentaries of Monterey Pop and Woodstock. This program will include "My Generation", "The Kids Are Alright", "Substitute", "I'm a Boy", "Pictures of Lily", "Pinball Wizard", "Happy Jack", "I Can't Explain", "Magic Bus", "I Can See for Miles", and many more! Also on deck are some wonderful cover versions of the Motown songs that The Who made their own, such as "Heat Wave" and "Dancing in the Street". Loads of performances from TV and live concerts plus rarely seen promotional material will round out this night of rocking footage. Approx: 110 min.
