Crafting with Lavender
Maker Barbra Friedman will teach a hands-on workshop on how to make beautiful organic lavender sconces using lavender from her farm in Forestville. Each participant will make and take home their own decorative wall hanging made from 150 stems of organic lavender, all the while experiencing the relaxing benefits of this healing herb. During the workshop participants will also be treated to lavender flavored snacks and homemade hand cream made with lavender hydrosol. Bring a friend and make a one-of-a-kind craft item that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Barbra Friedman co-founded of Bennett Valley Farm, a 5-acre dried flower farm that was a fixture at local farmers markets, fairs and festivals for 25 years. She is an expert at turning the luscious stems into wreaths, sconces, wands and sachets, and has taught floral design all over the county. She has also sold her designs to to mail order companies such as LL Bean, Smith & Hawken, and Martha Stewart. Her farm was one of the first commercial lavender growers in Sonoma County and still generously produce an amazing bounty each year with no irrigation.
