Citrus Tree Grafting Workshop with John Valenzuela, owner of Cornucopia Food Forest Gardens
Discover the art and science of citrus tree grafting! Learn about how to make new citrus trees, and how to add or change varieties on the older trees in your backyard orchard. We will discuss the importance of 'clean propagation' to avoid diseases, various rootstocks, and the 6 fruiting varieties you will be able to choose from for your own project (all certified disease free). After learning some basic theory about tree culture, techniques and tools, we will head out to the Pollinate orchard to graft an established citrus tree. Guided hands-on practice will have you taking home a newly grafted citrus tree of your own!
If you joined us for the stone fruit tree grafting workshop back in March, you know what an excellent class this is! It will sell out quickly, so reserve you place now!
Instructor Bio: John Valenzuela is a horticulturist, consultant, educator, and 'fruit enthusiast' who is the principal of Cornucopia Food Forest Gardens, and serves as the chairperson of the Golden Gate Chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers.
