Elvira
We are pleased to announce that Elvira Arellano, immigrant rights leader, will be present at the play "Elvira" produced by "Si Se Puede Productions" the weekend of July 18th through July 20th at the Clarion Theatre in Manhattan.
Based on the true life story of Elvira Arellano, "Elvira" is a dramatic fictional account of the last few hours before Elvira was deported to Mexico.
Elvira will be available for Q&A directly after the performance, with the Playwright/Director Jessica Carmona of "Si Se Puede Productions".
Elvira is a Mexican citizen who has become a leader in the immigrant rights movement. She was deported in 2007 and separated for some time from her young son, after seeking sanctuary in a Chicago church for a year. Elvira recently returned to the U.S. and, while seeking political asylum, is continuing to organize around immigrant rights. The play "Elvira" is a fictional presentation based on her story and honors her.
