Adieu Caribou has evolved from the days when Andy Alvarez began writing songs in his basement. They are now a full 8-10-person group known for their high-energy live shows. They are currently working with the Squared Collective on their second album. More information can be found online at: adieucaribou.bandcamp.com
Kalaloch is the lovely, lilting melodic endeavor of husband and wife duo, Alex and Jen Carmichael. More information can be found online at: kalaloch.bandcamp.com
In preparation for Bobcat Goldthwait's visit to LEVEL B with his film Willow Creek at 7:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 28, Friday's live music will be followed with his 2011 feature God Bless America, the story of a terminally ill man and his unlikely 16-year-old accomplice on a mission to rid society of its most repellent citizens.
"God Bless America has a whole lotta Taxi Driver in it, and some Network, and some Heathers (with Barr functioning as Christian Slater in the equation), and even some Kick-Ass." - Christy Lemire, Associated Press
Turning a critical eye on the obnoxious self-centered, hipster, pop-culture paradigm found in every nook and cranny of modern society, this outlandish, jaw-dropping, wonderfully sharp dark comedy offers a bold, energetic and cathartic release. Recently out of work, divorced and depressed, the down-on-his-luck Frank (Joel Murray of Mad Men) has had all he can take with the cruelty, stupidity and intolerance in his beloved country. Enraged, he enlists the help of an unusual accomplice - a high school student named Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr) who shares his outrage - and the two, locked and loaded, take on whiny reality TV stars and movie-going texters (and every offender in between) in an all-out seething rampage. Bobcat Goldthwait's razor-tongued script and subversive study of human nature is a punchy, full throttle, blaze of glory and gunfire "F- You!" to the apathy, discrimination, greed, unkindness and narrow-mindedness that has become prevalent in our fair nation.
"Viciously funny; takes no prisoners as it spray-paints Goldthwait's disdain across a brutal depiction of a pop-culture landscape that deserves this kind of sharp-edged satire." - Marshall Fine, Hollywood & Fine
