Improv Sunday At Turn 12
The Mirth'O'Matics, have been making stuff up on the spot for 7 years. Performing a variety of improv theater games and open scenes, the Monterey Peninsula's popular, home-grown, improv comedy troupe turn audience suggestions into fully improvised hilarious scenes. Audience members also get a chance to volunteer and join the actors, in some of the games == always a big hit.
And who are the actors? CARRIE GERDES blends perfectionism, contrariness and quirkiness saying, "To challenge my blend, I turned to the exact science of improvisation, and you know, this improv-ee thing is working out perfectly."
KEITH KRONE, a writer by profession, decided to add an auditory element to balance his many hours of quiet word-smithing. With great relief he said, "Finally! I'm able to say words out loud and not disturb myself."
GERRY ORTON, the troupe's founder and director began using improv 20 years ago. It quickly became an addiction, for which he refuses all efforts at rehab, opining "There are just some things that can't be changed."
MARIA DAWSON discovered at 13 that improv was a perfect fit for her shy personality, a trait she has perfected over the years, exclaiming,"Yes, I know, I know. It's a contradiction. It's always pointed out to me but, do I care?! Not even!! I'll give you shy. Come to a show!!!
RICH WESTBROOK possesses way too much energy complimented by a complete lack of impulse control. He's a bit touchy... "Listen, just because I'm a chiropractor, and just because I'm a Toastmaster, and practice Martial Arts and host a weekly TV show, aaaaannd do improv aaaand other stuff . Just because I....well yeah, just because!!!
Mirth'O'Matics'shows are upbeat, fun and funny with much friviolity causing much mirth'O'nessy.
