Paddle for a Cure
The 4th annual Paddle for a Cure benefiting the Support Connection of Yorktown sponsored by The Hudson River Watertrail Association Saturday, September 6th
Join us for a fun-filled day of paddling on the Hudson River while raising money for a great cause. This year we're changing up the course to a new section of the Hudson. The 9 mile current-assisted course follows the river down a beautiful stretch from 'Long Dock' in Beacon, past historic Bannerman's Island, to finish at Dockside Park in Cold Spring.
Participants will pick up playing cards at specific points along the way, hoping to produce the best 'poker' hand, and win a fabulous prize. After the paddle, celebrate a fun and rewarding day on the water with music, picnic lunch, beer and raffle for all sorts of prizes.
Net proceeds from the paddle and raffle will benefit the Support Connection of Yorktown, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established in 1996 that offers free, confidential support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer. More information on their services and programs can be found at http://supportconnection.org/.
A $65 entry fee (just $50 if you register before July 31st!) gets you event entry, ACA event insurance, breakfast, train shuttle ticket, picnic lunch, a raffle ticket, plus great event giveaways. A guaranteed minimum donation of $25 per entry and all raffle proceeds go directly to the Support Connection.
Kayaks, canoes, SUPs, rowboats, rank beginners, seasoned boaters and teams of friends and co-workers are encouraged to join us.
You must bring your own craft, or rent one from the local outfitter Hudson River Expeditions (845-809-5935) www.hudsonriverexpeditions.com , they are open Thursday thru Sunday. Remember to tell them it is for The Paddle for a Cure event and you will get a special rate.
