Author and activist Beth Terry will discuss strategies for reducing our use of disposable plastic consumer goods. Through a slideshow presentation and interactive discussion, discover the whys and hows of reducing your use of plastic, especially single-use products and packaging. Develop your own plan and priorities for reducing -- or eliminating! -- your plastic consumption during Plastic Free July. Following the workshop, collect any plastic you acquire during the next two weeks and bring to Workshop #2 on July 13, 2014. Store Manager Alison Moreno will highlight plastic-free food storage and serving items available in the Ecology Center Store. Attendance at all three workshops encouraged, but not required. Participants who attend all three workshops will receive a prize at the end of the series.
Plastic-Free July is an annual event that began in Western Australia in 2011 and has spread across the globe. It aims to raise awareness of the amount of plastic in our lives by encouraging people to eliminate the use of single-use, disposable plastic during July each year. Please join the Ecology Center and our team of plastic-free activists and organizations in taking the Plastic-Free July challenge and be part of a worldwide movement of people learning how to lower our plastic footprint. Learn more about Plastic-Free July: www.plasticfreejuly.org. Learn more about Beth and plastic free living: myplasticfreelife.com. Space is Limited -- RSVP encouraged.
