block party midnight supper with head like a kite and special guests...

it has become an annual ritual. as the last band takes the stage at the block party, caffe vita, one pot and the organizers of chbp set a perfectly sexy table for 70 and open the massive garage doors onto pike street. candelabras fill the gorgeous old warehouse, the towering bags of beans cast long imposing shadows, a band of seattle's most celebrated chefs begin throwing hunks of meat and local vegetables into a 1000 degree wood fired oven. wine, champagne, and spirits begin flowing. smack dab in the middle of this daydream a couple bands step up from the table and belt out a song or two - and at the stroke of midnight an elaborate rustic one course feast fills the long communal tables. the party stretches on till the early hours of morning... last year seattle band throw me the statue filled the warehouse with a few piercing songs, and impromptu performances continued throughout the evening. festivals never end in such a complete mash-up of insanely good food, good wine, remarkable music, lovely people and a table set for kings...
