Historic Flight Foundation is pleased to host the Seventh Annual Vintage Aircraft Weekend, August 29-31, 2014. Together with our Paine Field Partners, "VAW" has become a signature event for families with food, fun, flying, music, history, inspiration and excitement.
Visiting pilots and aircraft may number 65, all stellar examples of aviation during the three decades between Charles Lindbergh's solo crossing of the Atlantic in 1927 and commercialized Boeing jet service of the same route in 1957.
The festival begins on Friday with arrival of aircraft throughout the day. That evening beginning at 6 p.m., 250 lucky patrons will attend a "Big Band Dinner Dance" featuring live big band music. Group swing-dance lessons by guest professionals give everyone a chance to participate. Period attire is encouraged.
The main event begins Saturday morning at 9 a.m. VAW features a first-class Speakers Bureau, live music, two flying sessions of vintage aircraft, vintage automobiles and military vehicles, fine food, vintage bicycles, vintage clothing and uniforms, and a host of opportunities for kids and parents to interact with displays and vendors. The final flight will conclude at 5 p.m.
Sunday provides an opportunity to visit with pilots about their aircraft as they prepare for local flying and the flight home. Throughout the day rides will be offered in open cockpit biplanes and the DC-3.
