Laura Simms * Storytelling Workshop & Performance * Susquehanna Folk (SFMS)
An award-winning storyteller who performs international stories of timeless wisdom accompanied by world music. Evening performance includes Julia Haines (harp) and John DeKaad (percussion). ----------------------------------------------------------- WORKSHOP: "Telling Your Own Stories" 3:30pm. FREE! Some years ago, an African Griot from Gambia answered a question Laura Simms posed to him; "Is it important to know one's own story?" He said, "If you know your story, then you know yourself." During this workshop Laura will encourage participants to look into their lives to discover things about themselves, their pasts and the forces that made them who they are. Laura tells workshop participants: "Even if you don't think that they have a story to tell; a single detail or a single chance memory can be is a revelation." Participants will find this workshop exciting, inspirational and transforming. The group will learn about the power of storytelling -- the importance of speaking one's truth. ----------------------------------------------------------- POTLUCK SUPPER 5:30pm.
