Ryan Meagher Quartet
Fri, 7/25: Ryan Meagher Quartet Ryan Meagher has made his name in the international jazz community with a brand of original music coined, "modern jazz for the indie rocker." His most recent release on PJCE Records, Tango In the City of Roses, stayed much closer to what most feel comfortable labeling "jazz" but contained vestiges of his angsty suburban upbringing that gave his music its soul. Ryan is a recent transplant from NYC, but has already solidified his place in our burgeoning modern jazz scene. His band will include one of his closest musical cohorts, Vinnie Sperrazza, on drums who is in Portland for the summer from NYC. Rounding out his trio is Chris Higgins on bass, and John Nastos on alto sax. Catch this colorful and soulful modern jazz ensemble! 8pm - $10.
