A birth certificate propels an adoptee on a fantastic and mysterious quest for identity. Playing 12 characters with humor and pathos, our adopted hero explores every avenue of what it means to be a man ultimately discovering the horrific truth of his birth, an instinctive love for his birth mother, and a grateful dedication to his adoptive family. Excerpts from Good Girls Don't will be read and a Q& A will follow.
GOOD GIRLS DON'T Patti Hawn is the older sister of the legendary film actress Goldie Hawn. At the exact time when Goldie's star was rising, Patti's star was shooting out of control. Her book is a deeply personal first-hand account of what it was like to be trapped in an unwanted pregnancy at the close of an era where home economics took precedence over sex education. It tells the story of the last generation of young women to experience life on the eve of the sexual revolution of the sixties and the passing of legislation legalizing abortion. It is a unique time in history, foreign to an entire generation of women, that resulted in an incredible number of reunions between birth parents and their children --- 20, 30 and 40 years after.
