ARTIST TRUST AT MIGHTY TIETON :: SUNNY SIDE UP! August 22-23, 2009
Join Artist Trust for a weekend of artful festivities during Tieton Community Days in the glorious Upper Yakima Valley. Events include:
SATURDAY, AUGUST 22
Artist Trust Film Series, featuring independently-produced films by and about Washington artists:
8pm: "Trimpin: The Sound of Invention," by Peter Esmonde An amusing journey through the sonic world of an eccentric creative genius. Live performance by Trimpin following the screening. $20 Artist Trust members/$25 non-members
AND CHECK OUT:
12pm: "Future Wave," co-presented with the Seattle International Film Festival Featuring award-winning shorts, animated and narrative films by young filmmakers, including a selection of work by Reel Grrls.
1:15pm: "Dreaming of Spirit Animals-The Glass Art of Cappy Thompson," by Sally Cloninger A documentary about the internationally-renowned glass painter. "Arreguin: Artist," by John Forsen: Celebrating the life of Mexican-born, Seattle-based artist Alfredo Arregun, whose work will become part of the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection.
2:30pm: "Sweet Crude," by Sandy Cioffi A powerful and important documentary about Nigerias Niger Delta, where billions of dollars of crude oil flows under the feet of a poverty-stricken community.
4pm: "OutSourced," by John Jeffcoat A modern-day narrative comedy of cross-cultural conflict and romance.
6pm: "Icons Among Us: Jazz in the Present Tense," by John Comerford A feature-length documentary about today's jazz music scene.
