Join The Huntington Ranch Garden and Stephen Baldonando from I Garden for an in-depth look at the biological processes of compost. This workshop provides an accessible scientific approach to the whats, the whys and the hows of composting. Participants are asked to bring a small sample of their own homemade amendment to view under the microscopes in the Brodie Lab, where you will investigate the rich microbial life that inhabits healthy compost. Please note that this is the classroom portion of a two part series on Compost offered by the Huntington Ranch Garden. On August 17th, the second portion will be held with a hands-on Compost Pile Building Workshop. Instructor, Stephen Baldonado, owns and operates the garden design and maintenance business, I Garden, where he pairs his experience gathered while working in NYC's Central Park and the NY Botanical Garden with the degree he earned from Cal Poly Pomona in Plant Sciences to create lush outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and bountiful.
This workshop is only open to present and past participants of The Huntington Botanical Gardens "Train - the - Trainer".
This is a grant sponsored course intended as professional development for people actively involved in teaching gardening on a community, education, or professional level.
An email address, program title and year are required to register.
