An intimate evening with GRAMMY nominated multi-instrumentalist (hammer dulcimer & Native American flutes) Gentle Thunder & Special Guest John Sarantos (contemporary Native American flutes) will offer a night of spirit infused music.
Hailing from Mt. Shasta, CA, GRAMMY nominated recording artist, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Gentle Thunder, offers her spirit infused musical magic on grand hammer dulcimer & Native American flutes live for the first time in Eugene! Known for her distinctive sound and heart filled presence, The Wall Street Journals Jim Fusilli calls her music direct and organic.
Gentle Thunder's life is abundant with composing, recording, producing other musicians, performing solo and with other amazing artists, teaching and inspiring groups and individuals of all ages, facilitating sacred events, collaborating in service with non-profit organizations as well as cameo appearances with GRAMMY nominated, multi-platinum artist, Craig Chaquico (former guitarist of Jefferson Starship) on select tour dates.
Contemporary Native American flute artist and educator John Sarantos will be opening the evening of music as well as joining Gentle Thunder on a few pieces. One of the World's pre-eminent Native American flute instructors, John Sarantos has facilitated weekend and week-long contemporary Native American flute workshops from coast-to-coast for over 15 years. His introductory, intermediate, advanced and master classes have been available from New York City's prestigious Open Center, national cultural gatherings, intimate flute circles and one-on-one private lessons. For the past 11 years, he has facilitated with Ken Light and R. Carlos Nakai at the Renaissance of the Native American Flute workshop in Montana. In 2006 & 2008 he was a main presenter and performer at the International Native American Flute Association convention.
A respected educator, John has been accredited and licensed as a K-12 teacher in IL, KY, MN, NY, OR, and WI. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota. His professional teaching expertise covers many subjects; but he specializes in Drama, Art, and Music.
