The Wheatland Chorale: "A King's Christmas" Concert
The Wheatland Chorale's audiences always respond with delight to our annual holiday series! Artistic Director Eric Riley has created a holiday feast entitled "A King's Christmas."
Inspired by the concerts of the much-beloved chorus of King's College, Cambridge, A King's Christmas features choral music ranging from Elizabethan England to the present day. The program will include "The Lamb" by the late John Taverner and "A Boy Was Born" by Benjamin Britten. The opening includes the poly-choral "Verbum Caro Factum Est" of Hans Leo Hassler, and there are two stunning, recent compositions "O Nata Lux" by Guy Forbes (who came to composition rather late in life/career) and "O Magnum Mysterium" by the young Westminster Choir College phenom Daniel Elder. This is paired with the Cristobal Morales setting of "O Magnum" for treble voices. A surprising and nostalgic encore will be presented at the behest of the audience.
This concert will be presented at three different venues in Harrisburg, Lancaster and Wyomissing. Visit our website at www.wheatlandchorale.org for direct ticket links to the location of your choice!
