The second Tuesday in July has seen a beloved event the past three years: the Tahoe City Farm to Table Dinner was started in Tahoe City's Farm to Table Dinner was started in 2011 in a collaboration to help raise funds for the Tahoe City Farmer's Market's relocation studies. This year, the celebrated chefs wanted to breathe new life in to the event.
The result is the first-ever Tour de Fork, a progressive dining event that will visit three locations in Tahoe City. The terrace at Jake's on the Lake will host the evening's start, with a walk to Wolfdale's Courtyard for the main course, followed by desserts and dancing outside in Za's Alley.
The tenets of the event are the same: locally sourced foods prepared by organizer Douglas Dale and chefs Lee Kresy (D'Lish Catering), Scott Yorkey (Jake's), Jonny Roscher (Za's), Robb Wyss (Sunnyside) and Allison Sayles (Sugar Pine Cakery).
This year's funds will go to support Tahoe Youth Ballet, Meals on Wheels and the Tahoe Food Hub. Douglas Dale is excited for the new event: "Please join us for the first ever Tour de Fork - it is bound to be a historic happening."
The theme for this year's event is an Argentinian Flair, with flamenco guitarist Milton Merlos serenading guests from one location to another. Artists from Tahoe Youth Ballet's Lake Tahoe Dance Festival will also have artists in each location with site-specific moving sculpture.
