The Good Life with Po Bronson, author of 'Nurtureshock: New Thinking About Children'
Set in the fabulous Hotel Andra Ballroom, The Good Life events begin with cocktails, tasty treats & mingling with the author, and the evening is highlighted by an onstage conversation and interview with the author, led by Warren Etheredge of The Warren Report. Following the talk is a lively audience question & answer period, and then Bronson will personalize your book. Appetizers and a copy of 'Nurtureshock' are included for each attendee in the $35 ticket price. A cash bar is available, and the evening ends with a Theo Chocolate confection. -------------------- For more information on this event, please call 206.632.2419 -------------------- 'Nurtureshock: New Thinking About Children' is a ground breaking new work by award winning journalists Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman that explodes our assumptions about parenting and childhood. In a world of modern, involved, caring parents, why are so many kids aggressive and cruel? Why are kids more aggressive after watching TV shows like Arthur than Power Rangers? Why do cross-racial friendships decrease in schools that are more integrated? If 96% of kids think lying is morally wrong, then why do 96% of kids lie? How can exposure to marital conflict actually be good for a child? What are the keys to unlocking an infant's language learning? Bronson's and Merryman's articles on the cutting edge science of childhood won the journalism award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the award for outstanding journalism from the Council on American Families. Prior to collaborating together, Bronson authored five books, including the NYT bestseller 'What Should I do With My Life?'. Bronson is a graduate of Lakeside High School (in Seattle) and Stanford University, and his work has been featured on Oprah, Good Morning America, and on the cover of five magazines including Wired and Fast Company. He is the founder of The Grotto, a San Francisco writer's colony and is currently writing for New York Magazine and The Guardian in the UK. -------------------- The Good Life has been created by Kim Ricketts Book Events and The Warren Report, and is supported by sponsorships from Children's Trust Foundation, Bastyr University, Tom Douglas Restaurants, Theo Chocolate, and Lush Life Floral.
