A Midsummer Day's Ales

Nothing quite beats spending a summer afternoon with one's mates enjoying a bit of company, food & drink. In that vein, Chicago Beer Society is hosting A Midsummer Day's Ales.

This indoor-outdoor (weather permitting) event will focus on session and summer seasonal beers paired with a ploughman's lunch and pig roast provided by Murphy's.

A session beer can be defined as any beer having no more than 5%Abv, featuring a balance between malt and hop character, and a clean finish. This creates a very drinkable beer which can be consumed over a period of time without overwhelming one's senses. Many summer seasonal beers work well as session beers since the high summer temperatures are conducive to lighter, more refreshing beverages.

A Midsummer Day's Ales will be held at Murphy's Bleachers, 3655 N Sheffield, Chicago, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm (last call 4:45pm). Tickets are $40. Admission includes a tasting glass, beer samples and lunch. Must be 21 or older to be admitted.

As always, we recommend that you take public transportation or arrange for a designated driver. Murphy's Bleachers is located at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield, across the street from the bleacher entrance to Wrigley Field (approximately 1/2 block west and 1 block north of the CTA Red Line Addison station). The CTA Clark, Addison, and Irving Park buses run late and are a short walk. Taxis are also an easy option.
