Brent Weinbach album release show! Adv. tix on sale until 5pm and then will be on sale at the door starting at 7:30pm.
Please join Brent Weinbach and his special guests Moshe Kasher, Alex Koll and Laura Weinbach, at the historic Verdi Club (in the Mission District) on Friday, September 11th, 2009, to celebrate the release of Brents second full-length album, The Night Shift, out in September on the San Francisco comedy label, Talent Moat. Co-presented by SF Sketchfest!
This is a special live event at which Brent will be performing his new album in its entirety. A year in the making, this is not a traditional standup recording. Rather, The Night Shift is more of a Joe Frank-influenced long-form radio-play comedy concept album a 64-minute, interwoven mix of in-studio routines replete with Nintendo 8-bit inspired instrumental backing tracks, live club material recorded at The Purple Onion, bent phone messages, interstitial weirdness, and songs. Brent, a former professional piano player, composed and performed all his own instrumental backing tracks for this record and his three original piano/vocals numbers have a surprisingly sweet and melancholy Tin Pan Alley feel to them. Its safe to say there is not another contemporary comedy recording like this one.
A former substitute teacher in East Oakland, Brent began his comedy career in the underground San Francisco scene but now tours all over the United States at clubs, colleges, festivals, theaters, music venues and living rooms. Brent was the recipient of the 2007 Andy Kaufman Award (for innovation in standup comedy) at the HBO Comedy Festival, hes toured with Patton Oswalt and The Comedians of Comedy, killed at the Coachella and Bumbershoot festivals, crushed it at Just For Laughs in Montreal, and created and starred in the Super Deluxe web series Weinbach in Wonderland. He also has a t-shirt with his name and his face on it.
The Night Shift is being released nationally by Talent Moat on September 15th and will be available through all digital music outlets (I-Tunes, Amazon, et al) and in finer brick-and-mortar retail shoppes.
