Composting Smart: Fresh Produce Recycling at Singing Frogs Farm
Check in at 3:30 pm Program 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Refreshments will be provided.
Composting is an essential strategy for increasing soil fertility and producing an abundance of food! Composting is also a solution to climate change, as it "sequesters" carbon.
Participants will receive in-depth theory and hands-on experience in compost making, as well as be provided with tools how to trouble shoot the compost process. This interactive workshop has plenty of room for questions and sharing of information.
Presenter Will Bakx has created innovative composting systems for over 30 years. He is the co-owner of Sonoma Compost, co-founder and current board member of the California Organic Recycling Council (CORC) and the California Compost Coalition (CCC).
Presenter Paul Kaiser is co-owner of Singing Frogs Farm, where he has increased soil organic matter (the life in our soil) by over 300% in just 5 years. Paul received the 2010 National Farmer Rancher Award for Pollinator Conservation and the 2013 Leadership in Sustainability Award for Sonoma County.
Co-sponsored by CAFF North Coast Chapter, the Farmers Guild and Sonoma Compost.
