Daniel Swayze is a pianist native to Portland, OR. After an unusually late start on piano studies at the age of 14, not having a formal lesson until 16, he secured scholarships from the Snowman Foundation, the Piano Santa Foundation, and others to provide him with lessons and a piano to use within his home. After just over a year of studies with pianist Barbara Parker he placed in the top five in Oregon's OMEA Solo and Ensemble Competition. Following this he began studying extensively with Van Cliburn winner Mark Westcott, with whom he still receives coaching and occasional lessons.
Daniel attended Southern Oregon University on a full-tuition scholarship. He graduated summa cum laude in 2011 with a degree in Piano Performance, having received all of the department's highest honors and awards. Has also been a featured soloist with multiple ensembles in performances of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and the Grieg Piano Concerto. In 2012 he accompanied the award-winning ensemble Siskiyou Violins in Carnegie Hall as part of the 2012 New York International Music Festival. Daniel completed his Master of Music degree in May 2014 at the Butler School of Music, the University of Texas in Austin, where he studied with Professor Gregory Allen.
Mic Vredenburgh is a cellist of diverse musical interests, with recent performances ranging from a solo recital at UT Austin's Jessen Auditorium to numerous collaborations with rock and folk musicians. An ardent chamber musician, Mr. Vredenburgh has collaborated with the Miro String Quartet and performed in Kitchener Waterloo Chamber Music Society's Music Room summer series, and his festival highlights have included performances at the Heifetz International Music Festival and the Sunflower Music Festival. A native Texan, Mr. Vredenburgh's previous teachers include ZuillBailey, Bion Tsang and Joshua Gindele, and he holds both Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in Cello Performance. Aside from his activities as a cellist, Mr. Vredenburgh enjoys composing original music for a variety of settings and blurring the lines between genres.
