NOW HARLEM...OR GENTRIFY THIS!
When Rita, a young white poet, moves to a gentrifying uptown block, her neighbor Joanne, who often goes by the name Harlem exclaims, "Your being here is like another Applebee's we don't need." Harlem is forced to choose between the cause she believes in and an answered prayer. Written for a society masked by centuries of pain, NOW HARLEM OR GENTRIFY THIS! is part testimonial and part catharsis. It is a call for communities to first examine themselves before demanding change. This poetic journey will take you from loss and injustice to love, healing and faith.
