Just by clicking a mouse, you made that on-line purchase, sent out requested personal info. That was easy, but who gets that personal information? Who looks at your private life as it zips through cyber-space? The Make-Believers examines these questions in informative and humorous ways. One month, my banking statement was cluttered with strange on-line purchases I never made. explains the films director and writer, Glenn Andreiev. They never caught the internet thief. This inspired me to make this documentary. My goal was to show how anybody with a simple computer can successfully pull a major scam. Among the people examined and interviewed in The Make-Believers are Wiliam Sherman, a Daily News Reporter who used his computer to steal the Empire State Building, a homeless gambling addict who scammed over six figures with a laptop, and a man whose hobby is to rip off big time internet thieves. The best way to show how something works is to actually do it. Without leaving my coffee table at home I was able to get social security numbers and get dozens of women to think Im a bored, lonely millionaire, Andreiev explains. Major companies that claim ownership of a chunk of cyberspace are examined as well. On-line celebrity gossip sites and internet rumors get picked apart. Ever wonder what caused the 2003 Blackout, or what is really at Area 51? The Make-Believers may have the answer! Huntington-based filmmaker Glenn Andreiev has made a number of feature films, including the vampire shocker Silver Night, and the internationally made thriller The Deed To Hell.
