An Evening with Bhante Punna from the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center
Please join us before the lecture for a reception beginning at 6:15. Wine and light snacks will be provided, feel free to BYOB as well.

Life After Death is a common belief among many religions. These religions offer diverse views about this referring to heaven and hell. Buddhism discusses Life After Death based on its analysis of mind: What kind of role the mind plays in this process and exactly what happens to the mind after we die? Further, what is the role of "karma" in the process of life after death? What can we do with regard to Life After Death by practicing meditation?

These matters will be discussed based on Pali discourses, which are the earliest recorded teachings of the Buddha. This will be both a scientic and spiritual conversation.

Venerable Akurugoda Punna (Bhante Punna) is a Buddhist monk from Sri Lanka who was ordained at the age of 10 years of age in 1983. Bhante Punna's monastic education and training was with a respected and renowned Pali scholar, most Venerable Kodagoda Gnanaloka Maha Theor at Vidyachandra monastery in Galle, Sri Lanka. Prior to coming to the United State in 2007, Bhante Punna served in a Buddhist monastery in Brisbane, Australia. At the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center Bhante Punna is known for his Loving Kindness meditation instructions.
